Innovative Engagement and Curriculum

Casa Azafrán offers a unique program of study for our students. Through social and emotional learning activities and Creative Curriculum, we foster an environment designed to support our student's development.

Our Learning Center

Casa Azafrán Early Learning Center is one of the district's Pre-K-exclusive centers, proudly located within the Casa Azafrán Community Center near downtown Nashville.

Our school is small in size but big in spirit! We prepare students for Kindergarten and beyond through meaningful learning experiences based on play and discovery. Our students are exposed to outdoor experiences, social and emotional learning activities, and structured play that's designed to support their development.

We practice active, hands-on and project-based learning, giving students time to explore, examine and problem-solve. They learn about the earth and sciences by helping with an actual garden. They learn about multicultural music and movement while working on their motor skills.

Breakfast and lunch are provided to children daily, and we all eat together family-style while engaging in meaningful conversations. Mealtime is one of our favorite parts of the day!

Being located inside Casa Azafrán's Community Center makes ours a unique school site that offers many benefits to families. We offer before and aftercare through Metro Schools.

Our Extended Learning Program (ELP) allows our students to continue the learning from their classroom studies with further exploration and knowledge building activities

Contact the front office for information on how to reach ELP contacts.

About the Curriculum

Our implementation of the award-winning Creative Curriculum for the development of young children not only is endorsed by the New Jersey Department of Education, Parents as Teachers, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, but it is also used by most local elementary schools here in MNPS.

At its core, the Creative Curriculum is a research-based curriculum centered on developmentally appropriate practices that match the natural way children develop and learn.

Building Relationships and Ensuring School Readiness

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on building relationships, the learning environment, how children learn, and how teachers and families can work together to strengthen the child’s growth and development, ensuring school readiness.

The curriculum balances teacher-planned and child-initiated learning and emphasizes responsiveness to your child’s strengths, interests, needs, and learning styles.

The system is designed to help teachers plan and implement content-rich, developmentally appropriate programs that support active learning and promote progress in all developmental areas.
